A report of a special gambling commission in Holland advised that poker should become legal in Holland. At the moment poker is the most popular online gambling game and the national casino has a monopoly on all gambling games. The national casino isn’t allowed to provide poker or other gambling games online. With this report a lot of online poker rooms are hoping that poker online become legal very soon.
As mentioned poker is the most popular online gambling game in Holland and already more then 500,000 Dutch people illegally play the game online. The biggest poker rooms in Holland are Everest Poker and Party Poker.
If the current government will actually do something with the report remains unclear. As mentioned the government has the monopoly on gambling and they don’t want competition of course. That’s probably why gambling isn’t liberalized. A lot of big gambling companies have lawsuits against the Dutch monopoly, but the gambling monopoly remains active for now and the near future. Hopefully this report will cause the total liberalization of gambling. Including gambling fruit machines online of course!
